Incarceration of the juvenile is harmful to the youth’s development, education, community and family. When you are place in a juvenile detention center some of your human rights are violated, such as solitary, and social violence by the staff . These harmful conditions can harm the youth psychologically and physically . the juvenile detention center incarceration process distance themselves from supportive relationships, interrupts education, prevents you from getting health care, and nutrition. Incarceration can expose the youth to trauma, development of mental health symptoms , suicide , and self harm . If we participate on ways to implement alternative we can promote the youth development, promote human rights, and build a stronger society.
